A New Face and Plans for the New Year

A new woman (with a sewing machine!) joined us on Sunday, when we met to sew bags for giveaways this winter. Barbara is a master quilter, Reston Runner, and triathlete. And, even better, on her first time out, she created a nifty way to hide unfinished strap ends as she attaches straps to her green bags. We are so happy to have her as our fourth sewer!

In other Virginia Green Bagger news, Bernice finally bought that new sewing machine and has completed about a dozen beautiful bags with it. Melissa and Helene continue to overwhelm us sewers with their cutting productivity. And Anita is planning to rejoin the group in the new year. We have missed her and look forward to welcoming her back!

Our first sewing session in the new year will be on January 23 at 1 p.m. in the Blueberry Hill Common House. E-mail us for more information. And remember--we always accept fabric donations.

Next Sewing Event--May 2

The Reston Earth Day Festival giveaway was a huge success, despite cloudy skies. Fifty-eight Virginians signed our pledge to use their new green bags.
We will be gathering to cut and sew more bags on Sunday, May 2. Please e-mail vagreenbaggers@gmail.com, if you'd like to help out. No sewing experience is necessary! We need people to cut and press fabric as much as we need folks to sew.
And stay tuned to find out when our next bag giveaway will be!
