Reston Spring Festival, May 6!

We have been giving away bags all winter long, and this weekend we're set to reach 2,500 bags given away! Think of all the single-use bags we've taken out of the waste stream!

We'll be at the Reston Spring Festival on Saturday, May 6, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Walker Nature Center. Rain or shine! Find directions here. Hope we see you there!

Upcoming giveaways: February 22 and 24

We have been hard at work sewing bags and have two giveaways coming up:

On February 22 the Sierra Club will be showing the documentary Clean Bin Project at the Oakton Library at 7:00 p.m. The Virginia Green Baggers will be there before the film giving away bags. This should be a great event: Clean Bin Project asks the question, Is it possible to live completely waste free? Partners Jen and Grant swear off consumerism and pledge to create no more landfill waste for one year, and in so doing, they learn about the larger problem of waste in our throw-away culture.

On February 24 we will be giving away bags at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Reston at a showing of the documentary Bag It at 6:30 p.m. Bag It examines the effects of single-use plastic bags on the environment, marine life, and human health.

Our next sewing meeting will be March 25. We will post more about this event closer to the date.

In the meantime, we can always use fabric. If you have fabric to donate, the best way to contact us is by e-mail:
